Rosa x odorata ‘Viridiflora’. This rose would go well with either pistachio ice-cream or a dark red flowering clematis such as Ville de Lyons or Niobe. It is truly green, climbs in a moderate way and has no petals but sepals instead. Some say it is ugly. I don’t agree.

Dear Catherine, I grow and love this rose. It is always a talking point and although curious, it does have a strangely alluring beauty I think. I have a small collection of green plants since I find them intriguing.
I’ve never seen this rose before…it must be fragrant just basing on the name.
I’ve never seen green roses… Very unusual. How many plants I don’t know yet! It makes gardening, garden visits and garden blogs reading exciting!
That rose is wonderful! I love green flowers – Sansevieria, Tulipa, Hydrangea etc. Dark red is a great idea as it enhances the charm of “viridifloras”.
The color and lack of petals make it interesting and a garden specialty. I think it is a conversation starter.
